The 5 Best Indian Restaurants in Karama for Indian Eats Done Right

Spices: I picked spots where the spices hit me right away. If the cumin in the biryani tasted fresh, not like it had been sitting around for a year, I knew I was in the right place. I sniffed, sampled, and even grilled the chefs about their spice blends.

Authenticity: I quizzed the staff about how they actually cook. Does the dal tadka bubble away for hours? Is the naan rolled out by hand every morning? I was after the real deal.

Staff: The best places had servers who lit up when I asked about the menu. I always asked for their favorites and let them steer me.

Cleanliness: I only stuck around if the tables weren’t sticky and there weren’t piles of napkins lurking in the corners. If the place looked clean, I was game.

Butter chicken or tikka masala is where most people start when they’re new to Indian food. It’s the safe choice—supposedly hard to mess up. But I’ve had my share of disasters.

Once, I ordered tikka masala at a random spot in the Midwest and got a bowl of cream soup with chicken bobbing around. The naan? Pure cardboard. Forty AED gone, just like that.

So when I landed back in Dubai, I made it my mission to hunt down the best Indian restaurants in Karama—the kind of places where the dal bubbles away in ancient pots and the chefs are basically biryani experts.

How much does it cost to eat at an Indian restaurant in Karama?

It costs at least 25 AED to eat at an Indian restaurant in Karama. This price is just an estimate. The actual price will depend on the restaurant you go to, what you eat, and more.

1. Indian Delights Restaurant

Indian Delights wins points for its unlimited pani puri bar.

My server walked me through the whole process—cracking open the crisp semolina shells, stuffing them with spicy mashed potatoes and a hit of tangy tamarind chutney. Every bite was zesty and crunchy.

Next up was the chicken malai zafrani. The chicken was so tender it barely needed chewing. It was marinated in a saffron cream that melted away, leaving a gentle cardamom heat lingering after each bite.

I paired it with the malai kofta—pillowy paneer-potato dumplings floating in a silky onion-tomato gravy. The creamy-tangy balance was just right, though I regretted not saving more space after demolishing six pani puris.

To drink, I went for the masala Coca-Cola, spiked with cumin and lime. It was fizzy, spicy, and strangely addictive.

Dessert was mishti doi—a silky, caramelized yogurt that was sweet and just a little tart. My only gripe is that I wish the portions were bigger.

Pros

  • Unlimited pani puri bar
  • Tender chicken malai zafrani
  • Pillowy paneer dumplings
  • Addicting masala Coca-Cola
  • Silky mishti doi

Cons

  • Small portions

2. LIZ restaurant – Why pay more

Address: 17 9B St – Al Karama

Contact Details: +971 4 342 6955

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 7:30 AM to 11:30 PM

Liz Restaurant stands out for its banana leaf-lined trays—a simple touch that gives every meal an earthy, herbal kick.

On one occasion, when I came here for breakfast, the parotta and chicken curry were served on a broad, glossy leaf. The parotta was flaky and buttery, peeling apart like pastry. It was perfect for scooping up the coconut-rich curry.

The regulars I talked to raved about the Liz Special Biriyani at lunch. The chicken version balances tender meat with caramelized onions and saffron, while the beef is slow-cooked until it falls apart, mingling with cloves and star anise.

Another night, I came for dinner and tried the fish of the day—grilled pomfret, though the catch changes depending on what’s fresh.

The pomfret was pearly and smoky from the clay oven, served on a smaller leaf and slathered in chili-turmeric paste that crackled at the edges. The banana sheath trapped the steam, keeping the fish juicy.

However, parking here is a test of patience. The tiny lot fills up fast, and I had to circle the block twice before snagging a spot.

Pros

  • Banana leaf-lined trays
  • Flaky parotta
  • Buttery chicken curry
  • Delicious Liz Special Biriyani
  • Fresh, juicy fish of the day

Cons

  • Limited parking spots

Great food, quick service, and good value

“Delicious Homely Food with No Waiting Time Visited this small, cozy restaurant around 2:40 PM and was pleasantly surprised—no waiting time at all! I had the meals for AED 15, maanthal fry for AED 10, prawns fry (small portion) for AED 22, and a lime juice for just AED 2.

Everything tasted fresh, well-cooked, and full of homely flavor. The maanthal and prawns were especially tasty. The place has a relaxed, welcoming vibe, and there’s enough RTA parking nearby too. Great food, quick service, and good value. Highly recommend for a satisfying, no-fuss meal!”

Simple interiors, clean space, excellent service by staff, quick and efficient and the most amazing food. The host is a kind and wonderful man who genuinely takes care of every guest no matter the rush. Keep the great work, team!”

Address: Al Mabrooka 2 – G Floor – 36 4B St – Al Karama

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 11 AM to 11 PM

Chowpatty Khatta Meetha does Indian street food right, especially the Chole Bhature.

The bhaturas landed at my table puffed up like golden balloons, their blistered edges shattering to reveal airy, chewy centers. Dunked into the chole—a smoky, tangy chickpea stew simmered with black tea and amchur—it was a textural symphony.

The masala aloo (spiced with mustard seeds and turmeric) brought an earthy contrast, and the sweet-sour mango pickle sliced through the richness.

The ragda patties were just as good. Crispy potato patties with lacy, golden edges from the griddle were smothered under a monsoon of peppery white pea curry.

They’re then topped with tamarind chutney, raw onions, and crunchy sev. Every bite hit sweet, spicy, crunchy, and soft all at once.

I also couldn’t skip the paneer bread pakoda—a guilty pleasure done right. Stuffed with spiced paneer and mashed potatoes, the sandwich slices were fried until the bread turned custardy inside. Meanwhile, the crust crackled like tempura.

I washed everything down with a strawberry lassi—thick, frothy, and just sweet enough.

My only gripe? The service was slow. My server was friendly, but it took about 20 minutes for my food to arrive.

Pros

  • Excellent Chloe Bhature
  • Rich masala aloo
  • Crispy ragda patties
  • Amazing paneer bread pakoda
  • Sweet strawberry lassi

Cons

  • Slow service

Loving the quality

“Randomly searched cholle bhature while I was nearby Karama and found this absolute gem of a restaurant. It’s a small joint with little inside seating and few tables outside in Karama. However, they have the world’s best Cholle bhature. I keep looking for Delhi Style cholle bhature here but never found something this good. We ordered cholle bhature, patiala lassi, pyaaz and gobhi paranthe and it’s was superb especially cholle bhature. I ordered some take away as well loving the quality. The guy who served us was nice and decent and kept asking for anything that we needed. I ll definitely be returning back to this place every weekend now as my search has finally ended. Loved it. 5/5”

Absolutely amazing food

“Absolutely amazing food and staff. I went there after seeing public reviews to eat Chhole Bhature and I must say that Chhole Bhature and Sweet Lassi was best I ever had in Dubai. Also my friend and family tried different chaats and they were very tasty. Very well maintained place and good staff. Milan (staff who served us) is very good at his job and friendly. Though the space inside restaurant is very limited but I guess it’s common in all restaurants in Karama area. This is now added in my favourites list. 😊”

4. Kulcha King Restaurant

Address: Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed St – opposite Karama Spinneys – Al Karama Contact Details: +971 56 533 3764

Operating Hours: Open 24 Hours

Website

Kulcha King Restaurant lives up to its name with stuffed kulchas so good, diners may forget naan exists.

I started with the aloo kulcha—blistered to a crisp, its doughy layers peeling apart to reveal a spiced potato mash flecked with fresh coriander and green chilies.

The paneer version was even better: molten cubes of cheese oozed out with every tear, tangy from kasuri methi and crushed pepper.

They also do a kulchizza here—a mashup of kulcha and pizza. The combo of tomato chutney, melted mozzarella, and diced tandoori chicken is a hit. Messy? Absolutely. Worth it? No question.

The mains hold their own too. The mutton in the mutton kadhai falls off the bone into a fiery gravy of caramelized onions and roasted spices.

The prawn biryani is another crowd favorite: plump, briny shrimp buried under fragrant basmati, with a fried egg on top for extra creamy richness.

That said, the portions are on the small side. One customer told me their table of three needed two extra kulchas and another biryani just to feel full.

Pros

  • Stuffed kulchas
  • Kulchizza available
  • Tender mutton kadhai
  • Plump prawns in prawn biriyani

Cons

  • Small portions

Comforting, rich, and authentic

Absolutely loved my visit to Kulcha king in karama branch ! The flavors truly capture the heart of mine ❤️– comforting, rich, and authentic. I tried their chicken tikka masala which was generously filled and incredibly satisfying, and the gulab jamun was warm and nostalgic, just like homemade dessert.. But the highlight for me was their chicken tandoori The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, and the service was polite and prompt.

And specially thanks to host Suman . He suggests us very well about the menu .

Definitely a hidden gem worth visiting again🩷

Great, and very welcoming

“I had the butter chicken with garlic butter naan with Mango Lassi, trying it for the first time as I usually go for salty lassie, but was pleasantly surprised and went well with the spicy dish. The place is quite unique in its decor, vey cozy, neat and clean. They specializes in Kulcha, which I will make sure to try on another occasion as they looked delish as well. The servers, Jagdish (I hope I got it right!) and Suman were great, and very welcoming!”

5. Sthan – Food Beyond Borders

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 12 Noon to 12 Midnight

Sthan Food Beyond Borders takes excess to a new level with its naan-e-sthan—a naan slathered in garlic butter that feeds eight.

Naturally, I had to try it. I tore off a steaming chunk, loaded it up with creamy dal makhani, and nearly tapped out halfway. Ambitious? Yes. Regretful? Not a chance.

Regulars say the raan irani is their go-to for special occasions. A whole lamb leg, marinated in Kabuli spices, comes out fall-apart tender after hours in the oven.

The meat, lacquered with sticky pomegranate glaze, carries hints of smoke and saffron. It’s pricey, so I recommend saving it for fancy dinners and special occasions.

For something easier on the wallet, the nawabi malai tikka is a solid pick. I tried this and the boneless chicken, both marinated in cardamom-spiked yogurt and cream. I loved that they were grilled until the edges turned into cheesy crisps.

It’s rich, but the tang of pickled onions on the side cuts through perfectly.

Pros

  • Naan-e-sthan feeds 8
  • Excellent Raan Irani
  • Rich nawabi malai tikka

Cons

  • Expensive

Exceptionally delicious food

“Taste and quality beyond expectations! Sthan serves exceptionally delicious food. We had their signature kebabs and biryani during Ramadan. We had a lovely experience dining and sharing warm festive vibes with the staff. Totally recommended! Visiting soon to try other dishes.”
