Taking pride in being the “first” vegan burger here in the UAE, the aptly named Vegan Burger is one of the best places for vegetarians who want to eat fast and hot sandwiches here in Dubai.
The portable nature of the food means it’s easy to take it out and eat anywhere which is only fitting since its position on the lower floor does mean seating could be limited due to the crowds.
With this, you can enjoy most of their food around the bigger attractions though such as near the fountains or further up high.
As per the name, bulk of the food here are burgers. You get a great number of them made with vegan meat patties which even ‘bleed’ the same way as actual beef patties.
From there, you simply need to choose what kind of flavour you’ll want your sandwich to be in, whether it’s done in a black bun and drizzled with truffle sauce or a masala burger for some nice heat.
As for sides, you can also try their special fries and potato balls, complete with all sorts of condiments like cheese or even jalapeno pickles. It’s a bit smaller than other establishments though
This is a place you can bring your meat-eating friends as well, since they do have bacon, and chicken burgers on the menu for those who do want real meat with their order.
Still, it’s their vegan burgers which really shine in this establishment. As such, we definitely recommend giving them a visit for some fast, hot vegetarian food here in the Dubai Mall.
Pros
- Impressive plant-based offerings
- Excellent beverage selection
Cons
- Portion sizes are a bit small for the sides
- Takes some time to finish cooking some dishes

Looking to go vegetarian for health reasons? Check out Krave at the first floor of the Dubai Mall – a healthy restaurant concept dedicated to cleaner eating.
The restaurant is quite accommodating, offering up an amazing ambiance courtesy of its more modern interior. There’s plenty of natural lighting courtesy of wider walls and well-spaced seating arrangements.
You might have to walk a fair bit to get to the establishment though, since we found it to be a bit hidden from immediate view.
Krave is great to visit should you want a spot of breakfast. It opens early and there’s plenty of nutritious options available like an acai bowl, avocado toast or omelette, and even banana cinnamon oatmeal for something sweet.
Mains come as a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. For example, they use free-range chickens in dishes like their fajitas or shish tawook for any visiting meat eaters.
As for vegetarian options though, there’s a nice homemade hummus complete with whole wheat tortillas. The hummus is quite smooth and tasty and it even comes in a beetroot flavour for those who prefer that taste.
There’s also a vegan chili bowl for those who enjoy a bit of heat with their food, and a quinoa risotto which is delightfully light yet flavourful thanks to the portobello mushrooms and homemade sauce.
Prices are quite on the expensive side but we do think that their variety does make them a compelling choice nonetheless. Even if you’re not particularly looking for a ‘healthier’ option, we can still recommend Krave here at the Dubai Mall.
Pros
- Very accommodating restaurant
- Wide range of healthy dishes
Cons
- Price is a bit on the expensive side
- Takes some time to locate the establishment

Those interested in trying out a variety of cuisine can enjoy Markette’s. It offers a decent range of recipes ranging from rustic, Italian-inspired pastas or a more Asian-focused selection based on Chinese dishes.
All of this is served in a hip, modern-looking restaurant that’s easy enough to get comfortable in. Seating isn’t too cramped, providing plenty of space to talk in private as you eat with friends or a partner.
It’s also close to the Dubai Mall Aquarium so it’s quite easy to locate while also acting as a great spot to rest there before or after seeing the sights available.
There’s a wide array of vegetarian options such as the Markette twice cooked green chili sambal and Hainanese rice or a smoky tomato soup served up with a nice grilled cheese sandwich.
There’s decent options when it comes to dessert as well such as a red velvet cake or a carrot cake which makes for a delectable option to vegetarians.
However, while there’s a wide array of options available, there’s not a lot of variety that’s specifically for vegans (no animal byproducts). We think they could use a few more vegan-friendly options in their dishes.
Price is a bit more on the expensive side as well though there are affordable options available in the menu.
So if you’re interested in a mixed cuisine establishment when dining out with a group of friends, then check out Markettes today.
Pros
- Good, accessible location
- Amazing food variety
Cons
- Needs a bit more vegan option
- Price is a bit on the expensive side

Started all the way back to India in 1905, Bikanervala was initially started in order to serve traditional Indian sweets and snacks to customers. Now, it offers a more varied selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
Like Markette’s it’s close to the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, making for a good resting spot before or after a trip to that activity spot as well.
Food is quite varied at the location. For example, lighter snacks include samosas stuffed with spiced potatoes and chutney and served with a smooth, chickpea curry.
Or perhaps you’re hungry and in need of something heavier? In that case, you can check out the soya tikka tandoori which has been marinated with yoghurt and spices for a particularly hot and creamy bite.
Alternatively, there’s also a vegetable stew which makes for a great companion piece when eating out with family.
Overall though, no matter what kind of Indian-style cuisine you are craving, you’ll surely find a good option for it here.
Still, while there is a decent number of dishes that’s readily available, the restaurant is a bit strict on substituting ingredients. You may not be able to easily customize certain dishes to become vegan here.
Overall though, tradition does run strong here at the Bikanervala. As such, we highly recommend diners to give it a shot since their traditional cuisine is a definite standout.
Pros
- Amazing authentic Indian dishes
- Affordable dishes
Cons
- Not a lot of flexibility with food substitutions
- Some portion sizes are quite small

5. Carluccio’s
RATING | |
FACILITIES | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
RESTAURANT | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
FOOD | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
AMBIANCE | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
CUSTOMER SERVICE | ★★★★☆ (4.5/5) |

ACCESSIBILITY | ★★★★☆ (4.5/5) |
Fancy eating some Italian for the night? In that case, Carluccio’s doors are open to receiving guests both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.
Its visage reminds us of a cafe of sorts, with nice, airy windows and a decent outdoor seating spot that allows visitors to eat while enjoying the bright sun and afternoon breeze.
Upon checking the menu, there’s a lot of vegetarian options that are immediately available. Starting with the appetisers alone, favourites like garlic pizza bread, or a bruschetta with tomato and basil immediately stand out.
In fact, there’s even a platter that contains most of the traditional favourites, making it a good sharing plate to start with.
As for mains, vegetarians will surely enjoy the spinach and ricotta ravioli as well as the spaghetti gustosi which is made with real Italian black olives. These dishes can work for vegans too as it can be customised to use their preferred ingredients.
Now this level of customisation does come with some considerations though. For one, it does mean that some dishes may take a couple of minutes more in the kitchen before making their way to the table.
It also means that prices are on the higher end, which we think is important to keep in mind in case you’re eating under a budget.
But overall, their consideration for vegans by providing customisation options does make them a great spot to try out for anyone. As such, we definitely recommend checking out Carluccio’s in the Dubai Mall for a great meal.
Pros
- Great accommodations for vegans
- Excellent ambiance and atmosphere
Cons
- Prices lean on the expensive side
- Some waiting times for main courses
