Have you ever tried eating a full-course dinner in your car? Well, you can get that experience at Kastan BBQ Grill & Seafood on the second floor of the Dubai Mall.
At this restaurant, actual Mini Cooper components have been converted into dining couches, giving the place its trademark “car theme”. We found that it’s quite popular among children, catching their attention even when they’re just passing through.
For their main menu, the grill takes center stage, especially when it comes to serving up big batches of seafood and meat. King prawns were quite a popular choice as we noticed several other diners ordering it during our visit.
You can also just opt for their mixed grill which already provides fish, calamari, and fried prawns.
Those who aren’t big on seafood can also order alternatives like savoury tenderloin and shish kebabs. There’s a good variety of starters and sides as well.
Do note that lunchtimes tend to be quite busy though, and some diners have reported waiting for almost an hour before some of their main courses can be served.
And while the platters and grills are substantial, some diners have complained about receiving small portions for some orders like the dynamite shrimp. You’ll definitely want to stick to the bigger grilled platters if quantity is what you’re after.

Initially started as a means of promoting their design-driven dining experience in the UAE, Huqqa has steadily grown into other locations, with plans for a European expansion already underway.
They immediately remind visitors of a fine dining joint, crafting some rather interesting and creative dishes based on seasonal ingredients, allowing them to keep everything fresh and novel.
Seating is quite fancy as well once you step inside. It really brings in a chic, modern aesthetic and feel to its surroundings.
You can choose to sit outside or inside with the outdoor options giving a great view of the Dubai Fountain. However, do note that you need to reserve it early to secure a spot near the show.
The menu provides a good balance of meat-based dishes, seafood, and even vegetarian options. Seafood enthusiasts can start with the seafood soup before moving on to their seafood spaghetti or grilled salmon fillet.
Dessert is delicious as well, serving up a platter of seasonal fruits or decadent chocolate dishes. The foggy mountain in particular, ends up becoming a show in itself thanks to that brief nitro action.
As the tables are quite close together though, we did think the place can be quite noisy during busier hours like lunch. Just for this, we think it’s still best to come in early, especially if you have a reservation.
It’s a bit pricey, yes, but we do think most people will enjoy a visit here at Huqqa Restaurant.

Hurricane’s Grills is a fun, fresh, and relaxed steakhouse; which reflects well on their overall design. Likewise, they’re also known for offering up an amazing selection of seafood on the menu.
The restaurant look is quite modern, with some dark earthy tones surrounding the seats and couches. Still, the wide arch offering an excellent view of the Dubai Fountain show does also let in a lot of light during the day so you don’t need to worry.
And while the grill is best known for their steaks and prime cuts of meat, they also have delicious seafood dishes that almost acts like a lighter alternative to their main offerings.
You can get a slab of Norwegian salmon topped with a shrimp and mustard cheese sauce for a lighter main course with some kick arising from the mustard.
Alternatively, you can choose to order their ‘Prawns Villa Moura”; butterflied and grilled prawns served with rice, a salad, and a nice collection of sauces to dip them in. There’s also fish and chips for those who want something crispy.
We’d like to note that the restaurant can be quite busy on most days though, so expect to come in early if you really want to secure a nice spot for watching the fountain shows.
A few customers also reported encountering a problem when it comes to the bill. It takes a while; almost an hour, before they can complete the transaction.
Overall, we really liked the dining experience and food variety in Hurricane’s Grill. We highly recommend visitors to come check it out for some nice meat and fish dishes in the Dubai Mall.

When it comes to seafood, Japanese-style restaurants serving up delicious sushi and sashimi probably come to mind. And in the Dubai Mall, Tanuki manages to stand out with its great flavours and portions.
The restaurant actually deals in both Chinese and Japanese cuisine, while also taking inspiration from other Asian countries in order to fill out its huge menu.
Space inside is quite huge as well, providing sufficient indoor seating as well as a large terrace where you can dine with the iconic Burj Khalifa acting as your backdrop. Not a bad place to take cool photos as well.
And once it comes to their seafood, you don’t have to look far from their sushi and sashimi offerings. There’s a decent variety of flavours available, all done really well by their highly trained chefs.
We personally recommend the ‘unagi’ (smoked eel) sashimi since it’s not a fish dish that we commonly see around other seafood-oriented restaurants.
Of course, if you come in with a big group of friends, then we definitely recommend the rainbow set instead, which already gives you a decent variety of rolls, fresh fish, and even palate cleansers to choose from.
Prices are quite expensive compared to other Japanese-style restaurants and a few diners did report some delays when it came to the hot dishes.
However, their delicious sushi and friendly service does make them an enticing place to visit over and over again. As such, we definitely recommend visiting Tanuki to satisfy some of your seafood cravings.

Tulum brings in the taste of authentic Mexican cuisine and culture right up to Dubai’s doorstep, with one of the most visited branches being this one at the Dubai Mall.
There’s a nice ambiance once you step inside the place, partly due to the luxurious-looking interior design as well as a great view of the Dubai skyline from the terrace.
Live entertainment is also available in the restaurant so you should be treated to different musical styles and even talents over the course of your many visits to the restaurant.
Speaking of the restaurant, Tulum’s menu offers plenty of options for both fresh seafood and steak. Customers can even pick their own preferred seafood from the ice display the restaurant showcases.
As for us, we did enjoy the shellfish dishes most. Oysters are freshly-shucked and they pair quite well with Tulum’s homemade sauces.
Those who prefer the bounties of the land do have options to choose from, whether it be the popular New York strip or a whole mezquite chicken ready for sharing with the whole family.
Drinks can feel a bit limiting though, since Tulum doesn’t carry as many alcoholic drinks with them. We did like the selection of freshly-brewed tea and fruit juices and smoothies they do have though.
Tulum is definitely an amazing dining establishment that’s worthy of its addition on our list. Check it out today!
