Maiden Shanghai is an award-winning gourmet Chinese restaurant in Dubai. They’ve won 2 awards, namely the BBC Good Food Awards 2021 and Dubai Nightlife Awards 2021.
The restaurant serves food inspired by Cantonese, Sichuan, Shanghai, and Beijing cuisines by their famous head chef, Luo Bing.
Maiden Shanghai also offers a wide variety of Chinese food, especially their main course and starters menu. We particularly like their dim sum because they offer five different flavors with a unique presentation and twist.
We like how they are garnished – the dim sum looks very colorful and vibrant when served on a traditional wooden platter. We particularly enjoyed their Xiao Long Bao which had a generous amount of meat and a fantastic broth.
Another thing that’s good about this restaurant is they offer unlimited gourmet Chinese food and beverages. However, if you want a specific meal for breakfast and lunch, you can avail their house package.
We also like that they offer a 25% discount on food and drinks for teachers and birthday celebrants. All you have to do is show identification as proof!
However, take note that the restaurant requires advanced booking. Unfortunately, they also have a 10% service charge which we think is a little bit high.

The restaurant food is quite delicious, and you’ll find most of the popular Chinese dishes that you’re familiar with. We were also impressed with the wide choices of vegetarian food.
We’ve noticed that the restaurant serves a wide selection of fried rice with various options for meat, seafood, and vegetable toppings. In addition, they also have healthy beverage options that are made from fresh ingredients and real fruits.
Regardless, all their food and drinks are visually appealing because of their attractive garnish and presentation.
We also like Golden Dragon Restaurant because the place is neat, spacious and has a traditional atmosphere with its decor. They have plenty of large tables with plenty of seating that is typical of other Chinese restaurants.
Moreover, it’s convenient to order online and choose any food available on their menu, but expect it to be delivered 45 minutes and more upon order. We recommend this if you have no time to visit because they offer a 20% discount on every online purchase!

We were quite impressed with their famous Camel and Chicken Xiao Long Bao. It has just the right amount of sesame oil and doesn’t overpower the meaty flavor of the soup.
In addition, the restaurant is confident in guaranteeing the freshness of dumplings! This is because customers can watch the chefs as they cook! making the dumplings in their organized and neat production area.
The restaurant is open for dine-in and takeout but not online delivery. In addition, they can also accept large groups and accommodate special occasions through reservations.
Now, one of the biggest downsides of the restaurant is that there’s no English or Arabic translation of their menu. But don’t worry – their staff can speak English! .
Nevertheless, we like the ambiance here because it is spacious and there are plenty of plants hanging from the ceiling. We also like the open kitchen because you can watch the chefs create while waiting for your order..
Other than that, the place is quiet and clean, with soft lights and a great atmosphere.
New Shanghai’s customer service is decent – the staff is attentive, responsive and knowledgeable. One of their customers we spoke with said a problem in their order was solved professionally and promptly.

Royal China was established in 1996 and is well known in Dubai for their dim sum and Cantonese food.
They have a wide variety of items on their menu. The restaurant offers a good selection of dim sum, as well as plenty of ala carte dishes.
One of the foods we prefer on their menu is the Prawn Wonton Soup, which is very affordable and serves up to two people. Other than that, you can have their Crispy Aromatic Duck that can be ordered per quarter, half, or whole.
We enjoyed their ambiance because of the traditional Chinese music played in the background.
In addition, we like the overall visual look of the restaurant which is composed of red and black mixed with golden hues.We’ve particularly liked the illustrations and paintings hanging on the walls, which adds to the overall authentic feel of the place.
One of the downsides of the restaurant though is that the air conditioning doesn’t seem to be very efficient. It can get a bit warm and uncomfortable inside, especially when there are a lot of customers.
