Maiden Shanghai is an award-winning gourmet Chinese restaurant in Dubai. They’ve won 2 awards, namely the BBC Good Food Awards 2021 and Dubai Nightlife Awards 2021.
The restaurant serves food inspired by Cantonese, Sichuan, Shanghai, and Beijing cuisines by their famous head chef, Luo Bing.
Maiden Shanghai also offers a wide variety of Chinese food, especially their main course and starters menu. We particularly like their dim sum because they offer five different flavors with a unique presentation and twist.
We like how they are garnished – the dim sum looks very colorful and vibrant when served on a traditional wooden platter. We particularly enjoyed their Xiao Long Bao which had a generous amount of meat and a fantastic broth.
Another thing that’s good about this restaurant is they offer unlimited gourmet Chinese food and beverages. However, if you want a specific meal for breakfast and lunch, you can avail their house package.
We also like that they offer a 25% discount on food and drinks for teachers and birthday celebrants. All you have to do is show identification as proof!
However, take note that the restaurant requires advanced booking. Unfortunately, they also have a 10% service charge which we think is a little bit high.
Nevertheless, we do like the ambiance of the restaurant. We noticed how clean, attractive and spacious the place is.
Aside from its welcoming atmosphere, Maiden Shanghai also offers a great view of the skyline. We were impressed that this three-story restaurant also has an outdoor lounge where customers can see the beautiful scenery of buildings and lights outside.
We found that the staff here are knowledgeable in their given tasks. From explaining their menu items to laying down food on the table, we thought service was quite satisfactory.
Customers will also enjoy the lively energy of Maiden Shanghai because they have a live DJ and a private karaoke room. The ambient music may be a bit loud for some customers, so if you’re looking for a quiet dining experience, you may want to look elsewhere.
With its delicious food, lively ambiance, and amazing view, Maiden Shanghai is one of the best spots to go to try Chinese cuisine. It is located on the coast and can easily be reached by bus or private vehicles.

Dishes were deliciously put together
“I’d really liked this place, so I’ve been to a few other Chinese restaurants and they didn’t taste quite right for me, and it’s probably because they’re more authentic to China, whereas I was looking for more Hong Kong style. This restaurant definitely fits the bill, the style and taste is what I wanted, and the dishes were deliciously put together.
It’s just the little thing, HK dumplings tend to be abit more meatier with a little al-denteness to it, whereas Chinese dumplings tend to be a little bit softer. It’s not to say they’re bad, but just not what I like.” – Peter Lai
Large variety of food
“Still the best traditional Chinese restaurant in Dubai. It has been renovated with fresh and more relaxed decor. Large variety of food items although I noticed that they use one fish for all their seafood items; Hamoor which is disappointing as customers may prefer other types of fish. I rate it as excellent for their category. Service is very good.” – Habib Al Mulla
