Get fight-ready at the 5 best martial arts classes in Dubai!
My pals and I tried to plan a catch-up like we usually do, but it was starting to feel repetitive. Another round of beers, the same bar, the same stories on repeat. Khalid joked, why not try a martial arts class for a change.
At first, it just felt like one of those ideas we’d laugh off, but the more we thought about it, the more it made sense. It wasn’t just about fitness, but also self-defense and being able to handle yourself if something ever goes wrong.
That’s what pushed us to look into proper martial arts classes and figure out which ones are actually worth signing up for. Here are the best martial arts classes we found in Dubai.

1. Team Nogueira Dubai

Address: Al Ghurair Warehouse, Sheikh Zayed Road, Exit 46
Phone: +971 4 338 8967
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 5:30 AM – 11:00 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM
The first thing we liked at Team Nogueira was how much space there actually is. The mats don’t feel cramped, even when multiple classes are running. You only really notice how useful that is once you’ve trained in tighter gyms.
There’s also a proper strength and conditioning area, so it’s not just about drilling techniques and leaving straight after.
The class lineup is pretty wide. You’ve got Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai, boxing, judo, wrestling, and functional training all in one place. We liked that you’re not left overthinking where to go next if you want to switch focus.
On the coaching side, it feels structured, and you can tell there’s a system behind how people move through levels. It doesn’t feel like you’re just hopping from one class to another. There’s more of a clear path you can follow as you go.
That kind of approach might suit people who want clearer progression once they settle in.
We also appreciate that they bring in seminars and visiting athletes. It adds a shift in pace from the usual weekly classes. It also gives people a chance to pick up details they might not normally get in a regular session.
The only downside is that if you’re after something loose and casual, the structured setup here can feel a bit too fixed at times.
Excellent coaching, strong training results
“The best gym they taught me so much I came here with no experience with any muy thai or anything but my coach mehdi trained me really well he got me into the world championship for muy thai and I placed third I 100 percent recomend this gym”

2. Phoenix Black Belt Academy

Address: Bldg. 14 – Street 25 – Al Quoz Ind.fourth
Phone: +971507652502
Business hours:
- Monday: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM, 3:00 PM – 8:30 PM
- Tuesday: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM, 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Thursday: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Friday: 1:30 PM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
What’s immediately noticeable about Phoenix Black Belt Academy is how organized the Taekwondo training is from the ground up.
The curriculum has global recognition, being affiliated with the World Taekwondo Organization and following Kukkiwon-certified Dan rankings. That structure doesn’t just sit on paper. It shows up in how classes are paced and how progress is tracked.
Progression isn’t random here. The belt system moves step by step, from beginner levels up to black belt, and each stage has a clear focus. It doesn’t feel like techniques are being collected without direction.
There’s a steady thread connecting what you learn at each level, so it’s easy to see what you’re building toward.
Classes are led by Master Amal Graves, and the coaching leans into detail-heavy instruction. Movements get broken down properly instead of being demonstrated once and then rushed through.
Small corrections come up often, especially around stance and timing, and they don’t really get skipped over.
We like that kids, teens, and adults all have separate programs, with pacing adjusted for each group. The kids’ classes in particular stay structured without turning chaotic, which isn’t always easy to manage in group training.
Membership options are flexible, too, with short-term and unlimited plans available!
The only limitation is that everything stays within Taekwondo, so there isn’t much variety if you want to explore other martial arts styles.
Highly skilled and supportive instructors
“I’ve been attending taekwondo sessions here ever since I was 7 years old which is over 9 years ago. Me and my brother both achieved a black belt here and learned valuable skills, not only in martial arts but also discipline. Showing up to class no matter how we feel. It was amazing getting trained by Mr Lee, Mr JP, Mr Fernand as well as Master graves.”

3. Midtown Martial Arts Club

Address: 68FR+R3R, Al Jaddaf – Jaddaf Waterfront
Phone: +971 55 609 6843
Business hours: Monday to Sunday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Midtown Martial Arts Club works well if you’re just someone who’s mainly looking at martial arts as a hobby and not chasing a competitive fight pathway.
The setup leans more toward fitness, consistency, and building basic confidence through training. It’s more of a structured space you can stick with long-term.
What we especially liked here is how they don’t lock things into a single style right away. You get to explore different striking approaches through kickboxing, karate, and self-defense, which keeps things from feeling repetitive too quickly.
It’s not overly complicated, just enough variety to keep training from going stale.
We did notice classes often mix different levels together, so beginners aren’t always in a separate bubble. It can feel a bit fast at first, but it also keeps things realistic and pushes you to adjust as you go.
The coaching is direct and focused on technique. Instructors don’t overtalk things. They just correct form and keep you moving, which helps more than you’d expect when you’re still figuring out basic combos.
And, to our surprise, they also offer trial classes, so there’s no pressure to commit immediately if you just want to try it out!
Just keep in mind the sessions here run at fixed times, so you’ll need to plan your week around them.
Positive and energetic club
“So grateful for coach and sensei’s guidance to improve both my karate and kickboxing skills. I’ve been hitting up classes 3 times a week regularly and have seen such improvement in my technique and knowledge to add to my MMA skillset. Also love the vibe and energy in classes!”

The classes cover a wide range of techniques, keeping my son actively engaged and leading to noticeable improvements in his ability to follow instructions. We’re thrilled with the positive impact Midtown Martial Arts Club’s karate program has had on my son’s development and look forward to continuing our journey with them.”

4. The Warrior Academy

Address: Al Joud Centre – Office M16, 1 15A Street
Phone: +971 58 542 4089
Business hours:
- Monday to Wednesday: 11:30 AM – 8:30 PM
- Thursday: 11:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Friday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
We included The Warrior Academy on this list for parents who’re looking to get their kids into martial arts training that goes beyond just learning kicks and punches.
Most of their programs are built around kids and teens, so the structure of each class follows that focus instead of just adjusting adult sessions for younger students.
Sessions are kept small, so coaches can actually step in and fix details like stance, timing, and control while students are training. It’s not the type of setup where kids just follow along in a large group and hope they get it right later.
The progression is laid out in clear stages, starting with basics before moving into combinations and controlled sparring. It gives younger students time to build skills without being rushed into more complex drills too early.
When it comes to coaching style, we heard it’s very straightforward. Coaches don’t treat every child the same in class. Some get more step-by-step correction, while others are pushed to try more advanced drills when they’re ready.
Adjustments happen on the spot, not after the session.
On top of technique, the Warrior Method brings in discipline, focus, and confidence as part of the training itself. There’s also self-defense work, weapons classes, and family sessions, which add more range to the programs.
That said, their services aren’t the cheapest compared to typical gyms, so it’s usually a more considered choice for families.
Professional and motivating academy
“Highly recommend Warriors Academy in Al Quoz! The coaches are professional, the training is top-notch, and the atmosphere is motivating. The front desk staff are also very helpful and accommodating, making the whole experience even better. 💪🥋”
- Lee Garcia, Google Review
Caring and engaging academy with supportive instructors
“Warrior Academy (Al Quoz) has been great from our very first interaction with Diane.
Our son joined at 2years and 9months and he absolutely loves it. He waits to go back for his next class and looks forward to meeting his teachers Miss.Arnisa & Miss.Sharmila. They have certainly helped him channelise his energy in the right way.
We are sure to continue and make the warrior academy a part of his growing years.”

5. Kalari Club

Address: 714, Al Qusais Plaza, Damascus Street, near Oasis Residency
Phone: +971 58 896 9656
Business hours: Monday to Sunday: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
At Kalari Club, the training is centered on authentic Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest martial arts still practiced today, with over 3,000 years of history behind it.
If you want a type of martial art that’s a challenge to learn every day, this is the kind of place that doesn’t really let things stay easy or repetitive for long.
The classes follow a structured progression that builds on control, strength, and discipline. A lot of work comes from body conditioning and flexibility training, but it’s not just fitness-focused.
Traditional techniques are introduced alongside weapon training, which adds a different level of coordination you don’t usually get in standard martial arts gyms.
A thing we heard most about here is how lively and encouraging the atmosphere is. We appreciate that since it’s an everyday challenge, the environment doesn’t feel overly strict or tense.
There’s a steady sense of encouragement during classes, especially when things get physically demanding, which helps people push through without feeling out of place.
With all that, it stays tightly focused on Kalaripayattu, so there isn’t a mix of other martial arts in the program. That might not suit everyone, but for people who want depth instead of variety, the single-discipline approach makes sense here.
Expert instructors, strong personal development benefits
“It was always my ambition to learn Kalaripayattu, but I never got the chance to study it in Kerala, where it originated. Finally, I found the opportunity at Kalari Club Dubai. The masters here are truly experienced, and their training programs are outstanding. The sessions made me stronger, more confident, and helped me reconnect with my sports life. I highly recommend this centre to anyone who wishes to learn Kalari. Even if you’re new to this ancient martial art, this is the perfect place to discover how marvelous and powerful it truly is.”
