The 5 Best Budget Restaurants in Dubai for Every Foodie

Customer Reviews - We looked at restaurants that consistently receive high ratings across multiple platforms like Google and TripAdvisor.

Local Reputation - We focused on restaurants that have an existing positive reputation among locals, expats, or even food bloggers.

Value for Money - This includes the portion sizes, flavor, and overall satisfaction compared to the cost.

Menu Offerings - We chose restaurants that offer a spread of dishes worth trying (either a wide variety or classic signature items.)

Dubai is a place where you can get gold-plated steaks, sip on 24-karat cappuccinos, and brunch like royalty in sky-high towers. It’s a city that turns every simple meal into a luxury spectacle. But the delicious secret is that even when Dubai excels at extravagance, it also offers affordable, comforting, and mouthwatering food spots.

Even the locals will tell you that the real Dubai-dining experience doesn’t lie in Michelin restaurants and luxury cafes. The best food is found in the small kebab joints and family-run curry houses.

Here are the top budget restaurants in Dubai that prove you don’t need a platinum card to explore the local food culture.

Ravi is one of those names that comes up again and again whenever you ask locals where to eat cheap but good food. It’s often bustling during the day, packed with all kinds of customers—from workers to taxi drivers to tourists.

The setting is simple at Ravi. They have fluorescent lighting, tiled walls, and handwritten bills. Some may find it off-putting, but regulars argue that you don’t come to Ravi’s for the ambiance.

You come because you know the chicken karahi will hit the spot every single time. For first timers, the experience can feel crowded and overwhelming, but beneath all the noise lies food that’s packed with warmth.

Pros

  • Generous portions
  • Iconic dishes

Cons

  • Crowded
  • Rushed service

We love it so much we have to order for seconds

It was our first time at Ravi. Located in a humble neighborhood so the prices are pretty good for the amazing food. We ordered their popular Mutton Peshawari( recommended by a really friendly and warm waiter ) it was so flavorful and the meat was just cooked perfectly tender. We love it so much we have to ordered for second. The Naan both plain and with butter was great. Warm hospitality from all the staff. Highly recommended!!

If you’re tired of upscale places and want a warm service team and cozy ambiance

If you’re just looking for flavor, drive to Satwa. If you’re tired of upscale places and want a warm service team and cozy ambiance, you’ve come to the right place. Unfortunately, the chicken broth soup and the salad desperately need a squeeze of lime to be enjoyable. The mutton curry and rice were an absolute explosion of flavor. Don’t forget to order naan and dip it in the sauce!

Al Ustad Special Kebab perfectly embodies the feel of “Old Dubai.” When you step inside, you’ll be greeted by walls plastered with photographs of famous faces, loyal patrons, families, and more.

It feels like stepping into a little scrapbook of memories shared through good food.

But as much as the decor draws people in, most customers rave about the tender meat that arrives sizzling, paired with buttery saffron rice. Many families return here as part of traditions that span generations.

The place can feel cramped during peak hours, and the vegetarian options are few, but the experience is unbeatable. The overall ambiance of Al Ustad Special Kebab embodies the warmth and heart of home-cooked meals.

Pros

  • Famous kebabs
  • Nostalgic atmosphere

Cons

  • Limited dishes
  • Slower service

Customer Reviews

Very juicy and flavorful kebabs

“We thought it would be a quiet affair as we were the only ones. But within minutes the place was full. The shop has around 8 tables. The walls are filled with photos of famous people who have visited. The food shines and stands out. Very juicy and flavorfull kebabs. Definitely worth the hype for great food.”

– Stanly Cherian, Google Review

Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the service is quick and friendly

By far the best kebab ever had. There was no wait time to get in. Ordered the mix platter for 3 and juicy, well-marinated kebabs—especially the koobideh, which is rich, tender, and packed with flavor. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the service is quick and friendly. The atmosphere is simple but comfortable, making it a great spot.

Not every budget meal needs to be heavy. Sometimes, all we need is a quick bite to keep us satiated. That’s where Manoushe Street shines.

The restaurant is known for its manakish, or flatbreads topped with cheese, meat, or zaatar (a Middle Eastern spice blend). Manoushe is popular with students, office workers, and those always on the go because the food is simple, reliable, and affordable.

Regulars say that the food is always fresh and fast, but the stores themselves are not built for lingering, since the ambiance is more practical than cozy. Even so, reviewers say that the food feels homey.

Pros

  • Quick service
  • Convenient locations

Cons

  • Limited dishes

Rooted in Kerala, India, Calicut Paragon is a haven for those who crave bold spices and seafood done right. This restaurant has built its name on richly flavored biryani and curries.

The space is bright, polished, and the atmosphere is lively, making it perfect for families and large groups.

What sets Calicut Paragon apart from other budget options is the sheer variety on the menu. There’s something for everyone—from meat to seafood to vegetarian meals. Many reviewers confess that the fish mango curry is something to remember.

However, on the standard of budget restaurants, this one is on the higher side, with meals ranging from AED 40-45. But it still falls into the budget-friendly category because of the portion sizes and quality.

This list will not be complete without Al Mallah. This neon-lit roadside restaurant is the go-to place for families and friends, especially at night. Even solo diners enjoy it because of the ambiance of being crammed into outdoor spaces while enjoying the food.

The place is known for their shawarmas, falafels, and fresh juices. Some say that the chicken shawarma is the star of the show, while others praise the juices, saying they’re perfect for cooling off in the Dubai heat.

They also offer other items such as Arabic pastries and light bites.

There’s no formal dining set up, just plastic chairs with cars honking nearby. That’s part of what people love most, though. The authenticity and the overall casual feel of the restaurant.

Pros

  • Vibrant atmosphere in multiple locations
  • Excellent shawarmas

Cons

  • Very casual setup
  • No indoor seating

This is definitely one of the places you can easily walk to and enjoy a meal

The outdoor eating space was great. The staff were very helpful in guiding on the menu options. They even offered different pickles for starters. Great choice of drinks as well. If you happen to book a hotel with bed and breakfast along Al Mina Street this is definitely one of the places you can easily walk to and enjoy a meal and later do some shopping in the surrounding shops

– Gloria Champonda, Google Review

Service was quick. Food was amazing.

Our cousin took us down here for a good traditional dinner, and we were so impressed by the food and service. The atmosphere was great. It was somewhat late when we got there, but it was still very busy. Service was quick. Food was amazing. Thank you very much…

You don’t need a lot to enjoy Dubai’s food culture. Even the locals swear that these restaurants will give you a taste of Dubai’s diversity without denting your wallet. So next time you’re tempted by a gold-plated steak, remember that some of the city’s best dining experiences come wrapped in foil, served with naan, or rolled up in a shawarma.
