Why Dubai’s Zero-Energy Al Khazzan Park Will Blow Your Minds
Ever heard that song, “Today I don’t feel like doing anything…”? The point is, I’m active most days, but sometimes my brain just shuts down after weeks of forgetting to rest. I’ll just stare blankly at the wall because I’m too tired to function.
But since that makes me lazier and procrastinate, I figured I should do something about it. I need to force myself to relax and slow down regularly. Otherwise, my body would unconsciously make that decision—and at inconvenient times too!
I asked my buddies if they knew of any good spots to chill and reconnect with nature, and they recommended Al Khazzan Park in Dubai. Long story short, we all went, and we’re hooked! We’ve listed all the things we love about it below, so take a look!
What is Al Khazzan Park known for?
Al Khazzan Park is known for being an urban retreat that uses zero energy! Solar energy powers everything here, including electricity, irrigation systems, and night lights.
Best Time to Go
The best time to go to Al Khazzan Park is during the winter. Otherwise, the summer months can bring about really high temperatures that can cause heat concerns for visitors.
Things to Know
Entry Fee: You can enter the park for free!
Operating Hours: Al Khazzan Park opens from 8 am to 10 pm from Saturday to Wednesday and from 8 am to 11 pm from Thursday to Friday. During public holidays, the park is open from 8 am to 12 pm.
Parking: Don’t worry about your car because there’s ample parking here.
Washroom: The park offers several washroom facilities for your convenience.
Dogs: Dogs are allowed in certain areas. Just be a responsible pet owner and put them on a leash, as well as bring their poop bags and other essentials.
How to Get Around

Have a Romantic Stroll

If you don’t want to take your introverted date to nightclubs, wild parties, or even rowdy amusement parks, we say take them to Al Khazzan Park for a romantic stroll.
Beautiful, landscaped gardens and lush, green lawns surround the walkways here! The way we see it, this makes a fun, colorful backdrop for Instagram.
Plan a Fun Family Picnic

Picnics at the park are great during the summer or winter, but we just prefer the colder season because of the comfier temperature and pleasant breeze.
Just chill out and enjoy your favorite sandwiches and desserts while sitting on a rug. After a few hours, we encourage exercise and playing badminton too—don’t forget your sports gear and sun protection, though!
Bring the Kids to Play

We think kids will love Al Khazzan Park because of the 2 large play areas—it has swings, seesaws, and slides to keep them happy!
Of course, we advise the parents or guardians to be on the lookout since accidents can happen at any time. Luckily, the park offers seating areas with lots of shade to make sure everything’s cool and comfy.
Get Physically Active

The park offers spacious areas to burn the extra calories off through working out or yoga. For us, the greenery adds tons of fresh air and scenic views that make it relaxing for both individuals and groups.
Our advice: bring a thick yoga mat for extra comfort on the park’s grassy surface! There are also plenty of shaded areas here when you want to take breaks.

Tips When Visiting Al Khazzan Park
Now that you’re super knowledgeable about this park, here are some tips to ensure your scenic visit is a breeze all day:
Prepare for picnics—not BBQs.
As disappointing as this might be for some, there are no barbecue spots here. It’s good to plan alternative recreational activities in advance to better manage your time, budget, and expectations.
Bring extra mats.
Seats are limited at the park but don’t fret—use a towel or blanket and laze away on the grass. The cafe staff are just as happy to serve you there!
Keep the kids in check!
There might not be enough security at the entrances here. It’s best to be on the lookout for the little ones at all times, in case one tries to sneak out onto the main roads.
Stay for the night lights.
The park is beautiful during the day, but we say even more so at night. You’ll see lovely, violet lights around the trees and yellow lamps above the cafe tables and chairs—a wonderful sight for families!
Check for events.
Al Khazzan Park hosts community events and cultural activities now and then. So if you want to see art exhibits or other fun stuff, give the staff a call or ask around first.
