These 5 Fruit Markets in Dubai Got Me on a Health Kick

I’m not the healthiest person in the room, that’s for sure. I love food, and let’s face it, Dubai feels like Disneyland for foodies like me. But every now and then, I get into this health kick and crave fresh fruits to eat or turn into juices and smoothies.

Thankfully, Dubai has a lot of fruit markets where I can shop for every type of fresh fruit that I crave. So take notes and make sure to keep this list of my favourite fruit markets in the city if you also get that health kick.

The name says it all – this place is an entire souk filled with every type of fruit and vegetable that you can think of. Located right inside the Deira Waterfront Market, the Fruit & Vegetables Market tops my list for its variety of fruits.

Being in the old part of Dubai, you get stunning views of abras sailing on the creek and the nearby souks coming to life as you get your early morning fruit shopping.

The variety of fruits here is also the biggest I can find in the city. You have the usual options like apples, strawberries, bananas, and mangoes. Then you have the more exotic ones like mangosteens, durians, and rambutans.

Walking around this fruit market even feels like a lesson on fruits because you get to see fruits that you’ve probably never seen – or tried – before. And the best part is, vendors let you sample some of them!

Pro tip:

The Deira Waterfront Market is also home to the largest seafood selection in Dubai. So if you’re craving for seafood, buy them by the kilo and have them cooked at one of the restaurants inside the market.

Address: Al Aweer

Operating hours: 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM, 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM daily

Ask the locals, and they’ll say that the Al Aweer Central Fruit & Vegetable Market is the OG fruit market in Dubai. For me, it’s like Candyland, but for fruit and vegetable lovers.

Al Aweer has been the hub for fresh produce in the UAE, so the prices are cheaper here. You’ll also find the freshest produce options here, coming straight from the farms.

But what really impressed me with this market is how they commit to selling only products that meet their standards. That assures me that I’m also buying fruits that are fresh and can last longer at home.

We don’t want to waste any food here, so that’s a huge plus for me.

Pro tip:

When shopping at Al Aweer, don’t buy from the first stall you see. Instead, go around the market first to see all your options and compare prices. This will help you get the best deals on the fruits and vegetables that you want.

There are days when I’m just too busy to head to the market and buy my weekly stash of fruits. But The Fresh Market always comes to the rescue, which is why it’s one of my favourite fruit markets in Dubai.

Now you might think that buying fruits online isn’t the best idea. What if they gave you old, rotten fruit? What if they’re not being weighed properly?

I also thought about that for a moment, but The Fresh Market guarantees that you’ll get fresh and properly weighed fruits every single time. In fact, I’ve never received any bad fruit from this market.

I also love the convenience of simply going online, choosing the fruits I want, and having them delivered right to my doorstep on the same day. I can even buy grocery items, so I don’t have to run to the supermarket myself.

Pro tip:

Are you one of those who love to eat fruits but hate the idea of slicing and peeling them? The good thing is that The Fresh Market offers a fruit box option, allowing you to order pre-sliced fruits, so you can simply enjoy them upon arrival.

Bloom Market

Operating hours: 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily

To say that Bloom Market is massive would be an understatement. Imagine more than 800 stalls filled with rows of fresh fruits and vegetables sourced from every part of the globe. This fruit market isn’t only the biggest in Dubai but in the world.

With their ethos of “farm to table,” Bloom Market looks for the best growers from around the world and ships their produce to Dubai. This provides residents with access to the finest fruits and vegetables available anywhere.

This two-storey market has fruits and vegetables that you probably never even heard of. Think lettuce from Holland, mangoes from Southeast Asia, and dates from the Middle East.

They also have a huge parking space that can fit over 400 cars, and the entire place is air-conditioned. And if you ever get hungry in between, don’t worry, because they have three restaurants inside the market.

Pro tip:

If you don’t want to spend hours getting overwhelmed by all the fruits and vegetables in front of you, make sure to come with a shopping list. The market is open daily anyway, so you can always come back for a restock.

The Ripe Market

Address: Academy Park – Sheikh Zayed Road – Al Sufouh 1

Contact details: +971 4 315 7000

Operating hours:

  • 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM every Saturday
  • 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM every Sunday

Price: $$$

The Ripe Market may be last on my list, but it’s definitely a must-visit fruit market in Dubai. It’s not only known for its fresh selection of fruits and vegetables but also for its food, crafts, and unmistakable vibe.

Open only on the weekends, this is where I love to spend my Saturday or Sunday morning. I can grab a bite for breakfast, stroll around the market to shop for some fruits, and just enjoy the community that gathers here.

Most of all, I love what the market stands for – supporting local businesses so they thrive. Fruits at the Ripe Market may be pricier than the other markets on this list, but I’d gladly pay the extra dirhams for a relaxing weekend morning here.

All of the produce sold at the market is also guaranteed to be organic, so you’re not just eating healthy but also supporting local farmers in Dubai. How cool is that?

Pro tip:

If you’re visiting the Ripe Market for the first time, just take the Dubai Metro and stop at the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station. From there, the market is just a few minutes’ walk away.
