In 2013, Dubai was just starting to be recognized as a world-class city and it was looking for ways to make a statement.

So, the Dubai government planned on adding supercars to its police force and at that time, the best one on the market was the Lamborghini Aventador.

With a price tag of over $500,000, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 was the first supercar to be used by the Dubai Police and it definitely caught the attention of the global press.

Named after a fighting bull in Spain, the Aventador was one of the most powerful supercars released in 2013 with its V12 engine, so it was fitting that the Dubai Police chose it for its first supercar.

Over the years, the Dubai Police was able to build its fleet of 14 supercars including the Bugatti Veyron.

In 2017, the Veyron was declared by the Guinness World Records as the fastest police car in service with a top speed of 253 mph.

It beat out the previous record holder, a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 by the Italian police force with a top speed of only 230 mph.

Dubai has one of the biggest economies in the Middle East. In 2022 alone, the city’s GDP was at 307.5 billion dirhams within the first nine months of the year.

One of the best ways to show off its economic force is to make sure that its police force is well equipped with only the best cars in the market.

The Dubai Police’s impressive fleet of supercars include:

  • Bugatti Veyron

Holding the record for the world’s fastest police car in service, the Veyron is a super machine with its 8.0 L engine.

It’s also one of the most expensive cars on the market valued at $1.9 million.

  • Lamborghini Aventador

The flagship police supercar of the Dubai Police, the Lamborghini Aventador is one of the most stylish supercars with its sleek body.

Valued at over $500,000, this supercar features a powerful V12 engine that will take you from 0 to 60 mph within just 2.9 seconds.

  • Mercedes G-Wagon

One of the more robust supercars owned by the Dubai Police is the Mercedes G-Wagon with its 5.5 L engine that allows the police to chase criminals.

The newest G-wagon model is valued at over $139,000, making it one of the cheaper supercars in Dubai Police’s fleet.

  • Lamborghini Urus

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2022, the Dubai Police added another supercar to its fleet.

The Lamborghini Urus is a sport utility vehicle powered by a V8 engine that the Dubai Police uses to conduct patrols around the city.

According to Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police:

“By adding supercars like the Lamborghini Urus to our fleet of luxury patrol vehicles, Dubai Police enhances the security presence of its officers during international events and across essential tourist destinations.”

  • Aston Martin Vantage

Completing Dubai Police’s impressive fleet of supercars is the Aston Martin Vantage that can run up to 314 km/hour.

Decked with a custom “77” number plate, this car is inspired by James Bond and the other 7 honors the seven emirates of the UAE.

Aston Martin is equally honored to have the Vantage as the newest addition to the Dubai Police.

According to Ramzi Astat, Head of Marketing and Communications for Aston Martin Mena:

“It is an honor to have and Aston Martin join Dubai Police’s fleet of supercars and the Vantage is the perfect model to make such a statement; purity at its finest, a hint of aggression and engineering that pushes it to upwards of 300 km/hour.”

Some people may wonder why the Dubai Police need supercars when the city has one of the lowest crime rates in the Middle East.

Dubai takes crime prevention very seriously and strict rules are in place to make sure that peace is maintained throughout the city.

According to its leaders, the Dubai government added a fleet of supercars not only to equip its police force with the best cars but also to be more approachable to the public.

According to Major Sultan al Marri from the General Department of Transport and rescue of the Dubai Police:

“The role of the fleet is to break down barriers between the police and the public. We’re not looking to just show off with the car, we’re looking to show tourists how friendly the police is here in Dubai.”

The Dubai Police is also keen on using the attention that it gets because of its supercars to promote different causes including gender equality.

Sultan explains that two of its supercars, the Ferrari and Bentley are used by women police officers. This is the institution’s way of promoting gender equality in the workplace.

Whenever the Dubai Police are on the streets driving their supercars, the public would immediately feel comfortable approaching them.

In fact, it’s not uncommon for the Dubai Police to get calls from locals and tourists asking where they can take photos of the fleet.
