6 Tips for How to Sculpt Your Armpits
The armpits are a sensitive area of the body, and many people find it difficult to tone down the fat on this part of their body.
However, there are some things that you can do to help reduce the fat in this area without damaging its appearance.
1. Try arm exercises
To tone your arms, try these exercises (with or without a personal trainer):
- Pushups. Try a traditional pushup, or modify the movement by placing your hands on a wall or raised surface.
- Planks. Hold yourself in a pushup position, and brace your core as if preparing for someone to punch you in the stomach. Stay and hold for 60 seconds, then you can relax.
Repeat three times.
- Bicep curls. Use dumbbells and stand with feet hip-width apart and knees slightly bent, holding weights at sides with palms facing forward.
Keeping upper arms stationary, bend elbows, and curl weights up until forearms are almost parallel to the floor.
Slowly lower back to starting position without fully straightening arms between reps (so that you’re never locking out your elbows).
Do three sets of 10–15 reps with 30 seconds of rest in between each set.
2. Consider Coolsculpting
If you want to go for the surgical, non-invasive approach, you should consider CoolSculpting. It’s a non-surgical procedure that uses controlled cooling to freeze and eliminate fat cells.
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority has cleared it as safe and effective, and it works well on all skin tones.
You can expect results in one to three months post-procedure, and those results are long-lasting. However, keep in mind that the average cost per session is around 700 AED but may vary depending on the scope of treatment.
3. Try radio-frequency-assisted lipolysis
Radio-frequency (RF) technology has been around for many years and is currently used for a wide range of medical conditions.
More recently, however, RF energy has been used as an alternative to liposuction in body contouring and sculpting.
Radiofrequency Assisted Lipolysis (RAF) involves the use of temperature-controlled radiofrequency (TCRF) to break up and liquefy subcutaneous fat.
The TCRF energy can be delivered either via a wand or specially designed garments that cover larger areas of the body such as the thighs or abdomen.
In addition, RF energy heats the skin and subcutaneous fat at greater depths than other devices on the market today. This enables both fat reduction along with tightening of loose skin on the neckline, upper arms, abdomen, and thighs.
4. Try microneedling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine needles to create hundreds of tiny, invisible puncture wounds in the top layer of the skin.
These punctures trigger the skin’s healing response and boost collagen production. This process helps reduce the appearance of scars and large pores as well as soften fine lines and wrinkles.
It can even help with hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, and cellulite by encouraging your body to produce more elastin and collagen.
5. Consider ultrasound skin tightening
If you’re dealing with excess skin after losing a significant amount of weight, it might make sense to consider ultrasound skin tightening.
This treatment uses ultrasound energy. It’s an effective procedure for tightening loose sagging skin, especially around the neck, arms, and chin.
Ultrasound skin tightening works by heating the collagen under the skin. The heat causes the collagen fibers to contract and tighten.
As a result, your skin will become tighter and more elastic.
Keep in mind that while this is an effective treatment for reducing small amounts of sagging skin, it isn’t a substitute for facelifts or other types of cosmetic surgeries if you have a large amount of excess flesh hanging from your body
6. Try laser skin tightening
Laser skin tightening is a non-invasive treatment that uses beams of light to heat loose, sagging skin, which causes your body to produce new collagen (a protein that makes your skin healthy and elastic) and new elastin fibers (which make your skin tighter).
It can be used for people with small amounts of sagging skin or for people who have lost 50 pounds or more and have large areas of sagging skin.
A series of treatments will gradually tighten your skin until you notice a difference in its appearance and feel.
Your results will last one to three years depending on your age, how much improvement you wanted, how well you take care of your body after the procedure, sun exposure, etc.
If exercise and diet alone won’t work, you can always visit an aesthetic clinic and get any of the suggested treatments mentioned above.
However, before you push through with any procedure with a surgeon, be sure to consult first with a dermatologist or your doctor, especially if you have any underlying conditions or concerns.
