Your Ultimate Guide Skydive Dubai
I’m not usually an adrenaline junkie. To be honest, rollercoasters make me queasy, and even balconies make my stomach hurt. During my international trips, I usually leave with fridge magnets or the occasional mug. But when I was in Dubai, something in me wanted to push limits and that resulted to yeeting myself out of a plane at 13,000 feet.
From the moment I entered the dropzone, I felt the electric energy. During the freefall, all I could see was the beautiful views, and for a few minutes, everything felt surreal, and by the time I landed, I questioned everything I’ve ever thought about extreme sports.
And because Skydive Dubai has perfected every detail, it was easy for anyone (even magnet-collectors like me) to enjoy the experience. Let’s break it down to options, costs, dropzones, and everything you need to know before strapping in.

Skydive Dubai is the premier skydiving company in the UAE, and one of the most famous in the world. Most skydiving scenes offer blue seas and lush greeneries. Dubai, on the other hand, gives you a glittering skyline and the desert stretching endlessly.
Founded in 2010, it became a go-to destination for thrill-seekers and beginners alike.
Skydive Dubai offers various kinds of jumps, from tandem jumps to group sessions. Not only that, they make the entire experience worth it. With a video package, expertly crafted photos, and dropzones that make you feel like you’re meeting friends at the park, you will surely get your money’s worth.
They also offer two dropoff zones: The Palm Dropzone and the Desert Campus Dropzone. The Palm Dropzone is right over the Palm Jumeirah, and the Desert Dropzone is a location surrounded by golden dunes.
Skydiving Qualifications
Before even thinking about diving, you should know if you’re qualified to book. There are a few rules to follow:
In short, if you are a healthy adult with a valid ID and within the weight limit, congratulations, you may proceed to the next section!
Experience Options
One of the best things about Skydive Dubai is that they have options for everyone. They’ve designed different experiences depending on how far you want to push yourself.
Tandem Skydive

This is the classic and most common choice, often chosen by beginners. Statistically speaking, this is the safest form of freediving.
In this option, you’re securely strapped to a professional instructor who does all the technical mumbo jumbo (pulling the chute, guiding the landing, making sure you’re breathing, etc).
All you have to worry about is enjoying the views and experience—and trying to look good for the photos.
Tandem skydives occur at an average height of 10,000 feet (it usually depends on the aircraft). The freefall can be longer or faster depending on the altitude and wind conditions. The instructor also deploys the parachute at a safe altitude of 5,000 to 6,000 feet.
Solo Skydive

This is for those with a skydiving license. To obtain a skydiving license, most people start with the Accelerated Freefall (AFF) course. This includes training with professional instructors on safety procedures, techniques, emergency drills, and more.
After a series of tests, you can gradually earn the certification to jump on your own. Of course, there are various advanced courses you can take to make you more of an expert on skydiving. More options available at the Skydive Dubai website.

Gyrocopter Flights

If you’re not ready to jump yet, but would love to enjoy the same views, Skydive Dubai also offers gyrocopter rides, which are basically open-air mini helicopters. For only AED 1,199, you can have a 20-minute flight at a maximum altitude of 1,500 ft.
It’s nothing compared to the 10,000 ft. that skydivers experience, but it’s better than standing still on a tall building balcony.
The flight takes off from the iconic Dubai Marina, and goes through wonderful views of the Ain Dubai, Palm Jumeirah, and the iconic Burj al Arab.
SkyHub Indoor

This option is somewhat the opposite of the gyrocopter experience. If you don’t care much about the views and only want to feel the sensation of skydiving without the risks, then the SkyHub is perfect for you.
It’s a controlled environment where powerful winds lift you up, mimicking the feeling of flight. This is perfect for those who are not yet allowed to skydive, like kids.
It’s also a good practice if you eventually want to experience the real thing. And the best thing is, it only costs AED 240!
What to Expect
All bookings are done through the Skydive Dubai website. They will make you sign waivers and insurance forms to ensure a safe experience. Once you’re booked, and the day of your skydiving adventure arrives, here’s what you can expect:
The Process
For the skydiving options (Tandem and Solo Skydive), here’s the process:
1. Arrival
You should get there at least an hour early, especially when it’s your first time. This gives everyone ample time to check in, sign waivers, and verify IDs.
2. Briefing
Once everything is confirmed, you’ll proceed to the briefing area where your instructor will explain body positions, hand signals, and overall expectations for the jump.
3. Gear Up
Next, you’ll be fitted with a harness and a jumpsuit, plus goggles if needed.
4. The Flight
Once you’re geared up and ready to go, you will proceed to the plane and wait as it ascends to the designated dropzone (usually 10,000 feet). This ascent usually takes around 15–20 minutes. Nerves usually build up and peak here, so make sure to breathe in and out.
5. The Jump
When you reach the desired dropoff, the main event takes place. You jump. It takes about 60 seconds of free fall at 200 km/h, followed by a 5-minute parachute descent.
6. Landing
After roughly 30 minutes of ascent, you will now smoothly glide back to the dropzone, usually greeted by cheering spectators.
7. Photos/Videos
Collect your much deserved photos and videos, and enjoy!
The Risks
We know by now that skydiving is one of the most thrilling experiences you can have, but of course, thrill comes with risks—especially when you’re jumping from 10,000 feet and relying on a parachute to bring you back down safely.
That said, Skydive Dubai has built its reputation as a very safe experience. Their instructors are highly trained, and their gear is regularly checked.
Even so, it’s important to be aware of what the risks are before you dive into it (literally):
Physical Strain
With the sudden change of air pressure and the impact of landing, skydiving can put immense stress on the body. This is why you need to be physically fit.
Weather Factors
Like most things we can’t control, the weather can be highly unpredictable. Winds, rain, and even intense heat can affect the flight.
Mental Readiness
Fear is natural. But when you find yourself panicking, it may harm the entirety of your flight. Instructors are trained to keep you calm, but they can only do so much. It’s important to stay present and grounded.
Residual Risks
There is no such thing as zero risk in extreme sports. Malfunctions are very rare, but not impossible. That’s why skydivers always carry a reserve parachute and activation devices for safety.
