Woke Up Hungry and Found Myself Running to One of These Sunday Brunch Spots in Dubai

I love brunch, period. I love the idea of eating my heart out and stuffing my face with comfort food that I try not to consume during the week since I’m on a diet.

This is why I always look forward to the weekend where I can enjoy a good Saturday brunch and treat myself again to a great Sunday brunch in Dubai the next day.

Of course, we’re not gatekeeping my favourite spots in town to enjoy some good brunch food on a Sunday, so here it is.

While I love to be rough and rugged with my breakfasts, there are days when I want to be a little fancy. And for those days, I head up to Alici in Bluewaters Island for an upscale breakfast experience.

Let me tell you, this Sunday brunch spot isn’t for those “morning after” eating like a hungry bear to cure a hangover.

With a decadent decor and a well-heeled crowd, I’d like to call Alici your Sunday brunch for grownups. And by that I mean 13 dishes that will make you feel like you’re in Amalfi sipping on cocktails and eating fresh Dibba Bay oysters to start your meal.

Then you have one dish after the other being delivered to your table, all of which you’d want to devour. So believe me, you’ll be stuffed after eating 13 delicious dishes.

Stayed in bed for too long? Don’t worry because you can still enjoy some very late afternoon Sunday brunch in Dubai at Seven Sisters.

Aptly named the Sundown Brunch, this special menu doesn’t involve any eggs or bacon. What you’re getting instead is a fusion of Mediterranean and Asian cuisines.

Starters include beef pepperoni and Hokkaido corn while there’s only one main course, the Seven Sisters Kushiyaki Platter, that includes grilled meats and vegetables.

And if you plan to take Sunday brunching until the early morning, go for their premium package that already includes your choice of cocktails, sparkling, beer or spirits.

What’s great about this brunch spot is that they offer a separate buffet for your kids, so they can choose what they want to eat and not settle for what’s available for the adults.

I love that they care about the little ones that much and they even have a dedicated area for the kids, so you can focus on your food while they focus on the fun.

This brunch isn’t just a good meal, it’s also an experience where you get to enjoy delicious food, groove to retro music and just bond with the community in a relaxed environment.

And when I talk about food, I mean really good French food that Chez Wam is most known for. Let Chef Hadrien take you on a culinary journey with food that’s made for sharing and drinks that you’d love to keep drinking.

Oh, and did I mention that they have an interactive drinks station and a DIY tomato-based beverage station? So if you’re feeling adventurous with your drinks, this is the place to come out and play.

Who says you can’t have brunch at midnight? When you go to Babiole, Sunday brunch in Dubai takes on a whole new level when it’s done until the wee hours of the morning.

This isn’t a pyjama affair, however, because you’re walking into a modern Mediterranean restaurant in the Hilton where fancy people have fancy dinners.

But don’t be intimidated because the brunch here is just as comforting as the ones you usually have – just a bit elevated. Here, you can feast on meat, fish and vegetarian dishes while looking out at the great view of the city.

And don’t forget to put your dancing shoes on because the live DJ will keep blasting out those tunes while you enjoy your meal.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I can’t go a week without eating Indian food. And if I crave it on a Sunday afternoon, I always run to Carnival by Tresind for a hearty Sunday brunch in Dubai.

For starters, I love that Carnival has a vegetarian version of all its non-vegetarian offerings. So if I have vegetarian friends over, I can take them to Carnival and I know they’ll enjoy the food as much as I do.

In fact, I try to switch things up every now and then and try their vegetarian dishes and to my surprise, some of them actually taste better than their non-vegetarian varieties.

I highly recommend their five pepper prawns and crab tempura with coconut sambal. And you should never leave without trying their gajak with caramelised peanuts and a chocolate brownie.

After a week of braving Dubai’s traffic, all I want is to treat myself to a peaceful breakfast on a rooftop. That’s when I head to Aloft Al Mina to enjoy their High Note Sunday brunch.

Here, I forget about the world for a second while I dig into my delicious shiitake mushroom-filled vegetable spring roll and methi paneer tikka while enjoying the views from the rooftop.

I end the meal with my mini opera cakes that I have all to myself and go on my merry way ready to take on Dubai’s traffic for another week.
